We took a low key approach to the day. Dee Ann and Hal took off for a walk around the Stockbridge area, hitting all of the second-hand shops in the upscale neighborhood (and 30,000 steps). We headed off to the National Museum of Scotland. A couple pictures from our walk. First the main atrium area in the museum was beautiful, light and expansive. Next, Brad meets James Watt. We tried to absorb some of the exhibits about Scotland’s history, but it must lose something in the translation, even though all the materials were in English.
The highlight of the day was dinner at Ondine (http://www.ondinerestaurant.co.uk), which is an upscale seafood restaurant. The meal was delicious. A few photos of the gorgeous food. First, the smoked salmon. Next, the chicken and duck parfait (pate with fig jam, served with hot crumpets). Then the squid tempura. For a main dish, the grilled scallops (in the shells they were born in) with spicy sausage. Finally, the beet and goat cheese salad. These were selections from each of our dinners … not one single person’s dinner!! And I omitted the dessert photos. I don’t remember who it was that said they wanted to see photos of the food we were eating on the trip … So here you go.
